Illustrating in other media

Hi all - sorry for posting so late. (I have school on Wednesday nights.)
My family just celebrated my mom's birthday this past weekend. In my post this week, I thought I'd share a gift I made for her many years ago. Also proof that not all of my illustrations are painted:

I'm curious if any readers of this blog have any favorite mixed-media illustrators? For me, I recommend checking out Salley Mavor. Her work is pretty amazing.

  1. Thank you for the link to Sally's work. It is amazing!

I read this blog regularly and really appreciate the diversity of work and styles presented.

I enjoy the work of Margaret Cusack quite a bit. Her fabric illustrations are wonderful, especially given their size.

I would also humbly (very humbly!!!) point out my own efforts:):):)

  2. This is really sweet. Is it a quilt, or a fabric illustration?

  3. Vita - it's a quilt! I'm not really a quilter so I had to fudge my sewing techniques but there's a back, and batting in between. So, it's as much a quilt as I could make it!

  4. This is lovely, Nicole!! It's fun to see these blast-from-the-past works. In your quilt there are some sophisticated shapes--from one who understands contours and yet it's bold and graphic. Awww your lucky mom!!

I don't know if this counts but, clay for illustrating: http://www.barbarareid.ca/home.html and I recently found this illustrator: http://www.jessicafortner.com/

Going farther than the page is incredible. Keep it up! Thank you for sharing :)
