snow day art

There was an unexpected snow day on Monday and after being winter vacation's sole entertainment committee member I was tapped out so I looked on a blog and was reminded of painting with marbles. The activity only lasted 12.5 minutes but these pictures will hang on our walls for a long time. To see more of the images that my daughter made (this was mine) go to foundmarbles.blogspot.com. The marbles look great after too!

  1. Jen!!! I absolutely LOVE these marble paintings!! Yours and your daughters! I never heard of this technique before and I think it's awesome!! I'm going to have to do this with our kids. What exactly do you do?

  2. You get a box, we used a pyrex baking pan, and cut paper to size and either squirt little bits of paint on the paper or drop a mable in some paint and then put it on the paper and let it (or them) roll. You can let each layer dry in between for a less muddy effect. Maggie used my new acrylic gouache (we were desperate)and I used house paint.

  4. I was looking for new ways to decorate paper for my Arts and Crafts class. They are making handmade books, and this looks like a great technique! They will like the fun aspect of playing with marbles too!

  5. this is great!!! I'll have to do this with Luc, but I think it will last 3.5 minutes. Actually, I don't need him. I think I'll be doing this myself.
